Camping Trip

Our family just got back from a one-night camping trip. We went to a nearby state park that is located just along Lake Erie. We loved the campsite... right next to the beach and the water. When we arrived, it was quite windy and it took a little while to sent up our tent in the wind. But, because it was so windy, we didn't have to worry about mosquitoes too much.

After setting up camp, we took a walk to explore the park. We found and walked along a lengthy paved walkway at the edge of the water. The waves were big and splashed us on several occasions. The kids thought it was fun to get wet! Then we walked along some of the other trails in the park. It was a mild but muggy evening and when the kids got tired of walking, we went back to the camp and set up a campfire.

We roasted some hot dogs and marshmallows and ate dinner. Then we told ghost stories and played campfire games. It was really a lot of fun -- Great family memories! When it got dark and chilly outside, we decided to go into the tent and get our PJ's on and play some card games. Some of the kids wanted to stay around the fire a little longer, but after we saw a few skunks running around camp, the decision was unanimous.

The next morning, we had an early breakfast and took another family walk. We explored more of the park and Lake Erie. After our walk, we came back to camp and played games and roasted more hot dogs for lunch. We packed up all our things and left about 1:00 pm. We had a fabulous time! What great family memories!!

Scout was looking at your blog with me. First she asked if we could go back to Michigan because she missed the Dyals. Then she asked which one was Logan. I pointed to him and she said, "Logan grew up?" I don't have the heart to tell her that she did too!
