On June 11, the evening before the last day of school, was Jessica's 5th grade graduation from elementary school. It was a rainy evening, so instead of the BBQ and water games outside, we all went into the cafeteria for the dinner and graduation. I can't believe that next year she'll be going to middle school! I'm glad I worked in the school during her last year. I was able to see her many times in the hallway, cafeteria, and her classroom. The graduation was a sad evening for me, but an exciting one for Jessica. She is excited to move on. I know that feeling -- I remember my last year in elementary school ... feeling like I was too old for elementary school. That's how she is feeling. No tears for her... but many for me that last week of school.
The next day, which was the last day of school, the entire school did a "Clap-Out" at the end of the day. All the classes K - 4th grade, lined up and down the hallways in the school before the bell rang, and when it did the 5th grade classes came out and everyone clapped for them. I was crying so much that I didn't get a very good picture. Good luck in 6th grade next year, Jessica!!
