Logan and Mommy's First Day of School

Today was Logan's first day of kindergarten (full-day kindergarten in our district), and it's a day I've been anxious about for a long, long time. Logan is my last baby to go to school, and I have finally crossed a dreaded threshold in my life. No more mommy duty during the day, no more babies and toddlers at home. Time goes by way too fast sometimes! It's actually hard for me to believe that they are all in school now since not too long ago, it seemed to be something in the very distant future. As I anticipated this day, I imagined that I would be spending the day crying and missing my children. I probably would have been crying my eyes out except something happened that distracted me. A week and a half ago, I got a position at the school as a bus aide, lunch assistant, and kindergarten aide.... I'm basically working at the kid's school all day now. I know my life is going to be WAY more hectic, but I'm up for the challenge. Hopefully, it doesn't get too crazy at home! That's my only worry, but Joshua and the kids have promised to help me out a lot more.

Anyway, back to Logan's first day.... It didn't go as well as I had expected. The last few months he's been very nervous about going to kindergarten. His teacher told me (and I saw) that he was very fidgety, not paying attention and seemed bored, plus he's still having potty accidents and wore pull-ups to school today. I'm hoping when his nerves calm down, that problem will stop too. I was an aide in his classroom this morning and I could tell he was nervous and didn't want to be there. At lunch, he asked me if I could take him home. Hopefully after the next week or two, he'll adjust to his new situation and be okay (I hope).

But he was so excited to go on the bus this morning! I think he's been more excited about that than anything else. I had to be at school early this morning, so Joshua took some pictures of the kids waiting and getting on the bus. Jessica is in 5th grade this year, the oldest class in school. WOW! And Alex is in 2nd grade. They both like their teachers a lot. I really like Logan's teacher and know him pretty well -- He was Jessica's kindergarten teacher and was amazing, so I know he'll be a good teacher for Logan. Anyway, I'm crossing my fingers for Logan... I'm just glad I'm in the school to check up on him. It's good to be able to see and know how he is doing instead of worrying and wondering at home.
